*** Response Statistics from our PSAP ***
Yesterday, the Dauphin County Department of Public Safety (DPS) shared an insightful post about the busiest municipalities in our county. As part of their commitment to keeping us safe, DPS serves as the primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for 911 and non-emergency calls.
Within the report, you will see that the emergency service professionals within Lower Paxton Township are some of the busiest emergency responders within Dauphin County. We work hard to ensure that our residents always receive the fastest and most proficient services.
Stay informed, stay safe, and support our local heroes! ๐จ๐จโ๐๐ฉโ๐

๐ Vertical Ventilation Skills at Harrisburg Mall ๐
Last evening, Engine 34, Engine 34-1, Truck 34, and Utility 34 spent the evening training at the Harrisburg Mall.
Seventeen (17) Paxtonia Volunteers, accompanied by volunteers from Progress Fire 32, Swatara Fire 91, and Middletown Volunteer Fire Department participated in real-building vertical ventilation exercises at the Harrisburg Mall. These exercises included cutting large holes in the roof with saws. The ability to practice verticle ventilation on top of a real commercial roof, and not a simulation prop, provides invaluable experience to our firefighters if there is ever a fire emergency at a large commercial building.
We'd like to thank Swatara Fire 91 for generously allowing us the opportunity to train here twice this week.

Last evening, the volunteers of Paxtonia, were invited to participate in a joint training activity with members of Swatara Fire-Rescue. This training was located at the Harrisburg Mall. This unique training allowed our members to practice vertical ventilation on top of a commercial building. This training included utilizing saws to cut holes on a commercial-style flat roof and learning about commercial roof construction. Thank you, Swatara Fire Rescue, for the invitation!

Last evening members of Paxtonia traveled to HACC to begin our engine company operation series. Members refreshed on how to pull the front bumper and cross lays. Crews practiced stretching to the 2nd and 3rd floors. 2 of our members took time to complete one of the most difficult tasks to progress to a truck front. Members are tasked with throwing 282 ft worth of ground ladders to a building. Congratulations FF Skrobak and FF Baser on checking this off your packet!

Around 0400 your Paxtonia volunteers were alerted to assist Grantville Volunteer Fire Company with a residential structure fire. Captain 39-1 arrived on scene to find a fire showing from the basement on side Charlie. Engine 34 was the second arriving engine and assisted with the initial fire attack. Truck 34 was dispatched on the working fire assignment and arrived as the 2nd due truck. The truck crew was assigned to search the first floor and found fire in a bedroom while completing their search. Overall crews operated on the scene for approximately 4 hours before being released.
